Located in the Ogwen Valley amongst the Glyderau Range of Mountains Tryfan at 917m high is one of if not the most recognisable mountain in the UK. This fantastic mountain offers many opportunities for the walker, scrambler and climber. Why not join Mountain Ascents on one of our guided Tryfan explorer days to really appreciate this unique and fascinating mountain with a like minded group.
Our guided events can take you up one of the following routes.
The North Ridge:
The most famous route up Tryfan, a long and direct ridge of grade 1 scrambling. Due to the nature of the ridge including polished sections of rock some moves can feel exposed and hard for the grade, this can be made worse during wet weather or when the rock is wet. A classic mountain scrambling line that is worth the effort but should not be underestimated.
Heather Terrace and South Ridge:
The Heather Terrace is a classic route for the adventurous walker. This route has sections of Grade 1 Scrambling, but the hardest parts can be avoided if desired. This is an ideal introduction adventurous walking including sections of scrambling allowing for a longer mountain day.
Tryfan from the South:
A varied route that includes sections of grade one scrambling, walking and broken ground and reaches the Summit via the South Ridge.
