Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) Sunset
Please Note: Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions in Wales this event has been postponed and will be rearranged for later in the year. Please keep an eye on the information bar for next available date.
Join us for this fantastic walk to the summit of Snowdon to watch the sunset and then descend in the dark. Sunset is set to occur at 21:44PM so we will give ourselves plenty of time to reach the summit.
This is an ideal walk for anyone who would like to experience walking the hills in the dark. However, you will need to be reasonably fit as the trip will take around 7-8 hours to summit Snowdon the highest mountain in Wales.
WHY SHOULD YOU DO THIS WALK:
Snowdon is one of the most popular mountains in the UK often with large crowds gathered at the summit which can take away from the true mountain experience. This walk is an ideal way to see Snowdon when it is quiet, an often rare occurrence for most hill walkers and is sure to leave you with a new found appreciation of this spectacular mountain.
ON THE DAY:
We will meet in Llanberis and take the bus to Pen-Y-Pass where we will start the walk. We will walk at a relatively relaxed pace but you should expect it to take about 3 hours to the summit. We will then walk back to Llanberis
WHAT IS INCLUDED:
Small group experience maximum 1:8
YOU WILL NEED:
Suitable walking boots (with ankle support)
Appropriate clothing for the walk
Waterproof jacket and trousers
hat and gloves (in bag)
Head torch and spare batteries
Food, snacks and a drink (minimum 2 litre) for the walk
Money for the bus (approximately £2)
(Needs a minimum of 4 participants to run at the advertised price)
Mountain weather can be fickle at the best of times and there is no guarantee that you will see the sunset or even a view. The walk will take place in most weathers but the leader will reserve final judgement on the day (in most cases) and maintains the right to abandon any walk if they feel the safety of themselves or any participant is at risk.
