Navigation Skills – The Short Sessions (up to 3 hours)

No theory, no talking just straight to it.  The aim of the short sessions is to go on a walk and learn on the move by encountering the common challenges and dealing with them as they arise.

These sessions are guided by the aims of the group, the weather and can cover both basic and advanced techniques.

A typical session includes:

  • Orientating the map (keeping it the right way around)
  • Using the compass
  • Strategies for low cloud, mist, darkness etc.
  • What to do if you think you are lost
  • Pacing, timing, aiming off and attack points

The ‘Short Sessions’ are designed for both beginner and intermediate navigators or anyone looking to refresh on the fundamental skills

Fun, active and designed to aid learning.

Location and When:

We use a variety of venues from Mountain, Moors, Forest and Countryside.  Please check the information box for the next available session.

These sessions are designed as a quick hit all year round.

The event is finished.
