According to Alfred Wainright Striding edge is the finest ridge in the Lake District for walkers. Obviously, there is only one way to find out!!
Join us for a walk along the edges of Helvellyn (voted Britains favourite walk), a true Lake District Classic which takes in the circuit of Striding and Swirral edge. This route at times offers high levels of exposure but is an exhilarating route to the summit of Englands 3rd highest peak.
IS IT FOR ME?
In all but the best weather conditions the ridge can be daunting and should not be underestimated! The route is approximately 12Km long (9miles) but with high levels of exposure will at times get your adrenaline pumping. General hill walking fitness will be required and a head for heights. For those wanting to walk the ridge but not hug the crest the major difficulties can be avoided and the walk leader will select a route that is suitable for the group as a whole and the weather encountered on the day.
