Helvellyn Edges

According to Alfred Wainright Striding edge is the finest ridge in the Lake District for walkers.

Join us for a walk along the edges of Helvellyn, a true Lake District Classic which takes in the circuit of Striding and Swirral edge. This route at times offers high levels of exposure but an interesting way to the summit of Helvellyn.

IS IT FOR ME?

In all but the best weather conditions the ridges should not be underestimated but we take it slow allowing us to enjoy it.  General hill  fitness will be required and a head for heights.  For those wanting to walk the ridge but not hug the crest the major difficulties can be avoided and the walk leader will select a route that is suitable for the group as a whole and the weather encountered on the day.  Please remember this is a guided group walk so we travel at the pace of the slowest and cross the ridge as a group.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

  • Walk leader
  • Max group size of 1:4

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

  • Walking Boots
  • Waterproof Jacket and Trousers

***Please note: Striding Edge is an exposed mountain route, which at times can be subject to extreme weather conditions and sometimes it is not possible to complete the ridge.  If conditions are not favourable an alternative route across the ridge to avoid certain sections may have to be used.  It is at the leaders discretion on the day whether the group will cross the ridge, and if not, a suitable alternative walk will be offered***
